OSCAR's holiday rental check-in inventory now speaks 8 languages

A German holidaymaker in a cottage in Brittany, a Spanish family in a flat in Nice, a Dutch couple in a holiday rental in Provence: they all ask themselves the same question when they leave, "will I get my deposit back?". Until now, OSCAR's holiday rental check-in inventory only existed in French. It is now available in 8 languages: French, English, Spanish, German, Italian, Portuguese, Dutch and Polish.

A page in every language

The presentation page now exists in every language, each with its own address. A menu at the top of the page lets you switch from one language to another, each one written in its own language: Français, Español, Deutsch, Italiano, Português, Nederlands, Polski. If the visitor's browser speaks another available language, a banner suggests it, without ever forcing a redirect. And the choice is remembered for the next visit.

The tool and the PDF, translated

The tool itself follows the chosen language: the steps, the tips, the messages and the proof folder. The signed PDF is written in that language, with dates in the local format. Letters specific to each language, such as the Polish "ł" and "ż", are displayed correctly.

A useful new option when the owner does not speak the same language as the guest: "Bilingual document". Every heading and every statement in the PDF is then written in both languages, for example in English and French. The owner understands the report, and so does the guest.

In the app, no account needed

The tool can also be opened from the OSCAR app without creating an account: a "Holiday rental?" card appears at the bottom of the login screen, in the phone's language, and opens the tool directly in that language.

The Bitcoin blockchain: proof without borders

The principle is the same in every language. The PDF's digital fingerprint is written on the Bitcoin blockchain, the most recognised and most secure in the world: it proves that the report already existed on that date and has not been changed since. This proof does not depend on any country, any company, or even on OSCAR: anyone, wherever they are, can check the date for free with a standard blockchain verification tool.

The report remains a piece of evidence made by the guest alone. The owner, the booking platform or a judge assess it freely. The legal points explained on the translated pages, such as the fact that an inventory is not compulsory for a holiday rental, are those of French law, and the pages say so.

Still free, still on your phone

Nothing else changes: the service is free, with no account and no subscription. Photos stay on the phone; only the document's fingerprint is sent to be timestamped. And those who wish can still keep their report for 6 months in their free OSCAR vault.
