Blockchain and real estate: stronger traceability for your documents

OSCAR automatically timestamps your documents on the Bitcoin blockchain (check-in reports and their photos, leases, invoices…) — a complementary form of proof, free and public, never a substitute for a signature.

How it works

1

Document

A check-in report and its photos, a lease, an invoice or a certificate, as soon as it is saved in OSCAR.

2

Digital fingerprint

A SHA-256 hash of the exact content of the document — unique, never the document itself.

3

Timestamp

The fingerprint is timestamped through an open, standard protocol.

4

Blockchain anchoring

The timestamp is anchored on the Bitcoin blockchain, a public ledger that no one controls alone.

5

Proof of integrity

You can then check that the document already existed on that date and has not been changed since.

⚠️ What it proves, and what it does not

Blockchain anchoring is a complementary mechanism for traceability and proof of integrity: it shows that a document existed on a given date and has not changed since. It is not a qualified electronic signature, and it does nothing to raise the legal value of the signature itself.

Check a document

You can check for yourself that a document generated by OSCAR has been anchored, with no account and without sending your file: verify a blockchain anchoring.

And electronic signatures?

Blockchain anchoring and electronic signatures are two independent mechanisms in OSCAR. Full details, eIDAS levels and legal value: legal value of electronic signatures.
